Environmental Support“…Flatirons’ staff were highly professional and they were courteous and competent” – United States Environmental Protection Agency Real-time SurveyingFlatirons, Inc. offers real-time surveying for environmental clean-up projects. Familiar with RI/FS, CERCLA, MARSSIM, and RCRA procedures, Flatirons, Inc. captures survey data in compliance with national standards, including interior building scanning and 3D rendering. Our Geographic Information System specialists integrate data sets of survey coordinates with attributes to fit any specification. We have an excellent safety record, being trained and/or certified by multiple organizations. Flatirons, Inc. offers a cost-effective survey solution and a complete staff of certified, trained, and friendly surveyors to complete any project. Site Services Monitoring WellsGroundwater monitoring systems have become a commonplace means of detecting, analyzing and monitoring groundwater pollution. By means of a network of monitoring wells drilled into subsurface aquifers, the locations of point source contaminations can be identified and tracked. In order for the overall ground water monitoring model to be accurate, the wells must be placed on one horizontal and vertical datum. The role of the surveyor is to establish and map this system under the direction of an environmental engineer. The information provided is usually a XYZ coordinate list with elevations of the top of the monitoring well and adjacent ground. Although some sites (gas stations, underground storage tanks) are relatively limited in size and can be surveyed with traditional methods, often, sites are so large that Global Positioning System methods would be used to tie the wells together horizontally. Flatirons, Inc. can provide personnel trained in the special requirements of surveying in hazardous waste, toxic waste and other environmentally sensitive sites. These include EPA Superfund sites, military installations, landfills etc. These surveys are performed by crews that have OSHA 40 hour certifications. Remedial ConstructionAs an environmentally impacted site is assessed and a plan for reclamation or rehabilitation is prepared by an environmental engineer, there may be a need for some sort of remedial construction. Examples of remedial construction may include structures to confine the spread of environmentally unwanted materials, consolidation and removal of contaminated soils, or covering of historical landfills for reclamation of the land. The construction process is usually no different from any other type of construction surveying, except that the personnel involved must be trained in Hazardous Waste Site procedures. The conditions of the site may also dictate the wearing of personal protective equipment by all personnel if it is warranted at the particular site Flatirons, Inc. has personnel trained in Hazardous Waste Site Safety for projects where environmental issues are a concern. We have a program in place to keep the OSHA 29CFR1910.120 certification of our personnel current, which includes annual refresher courses to keep abreast of changes in environmental hazards technology.
